Olaniyi Akanmu graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the New York Institute of Technology and earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Long Island University, Brooklyn. His distinguished career spans over four decades, beginning in 1982 as an Account Executive at the Freedom National Bank of New York.
Throughout his career, Olaniyi has served as an educator at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Nigeria, teaching accounting and financial management. He also worked with the New York State Department of Labor as an Unemployment Insurance Auditor (Supervisor) and Employment & Training Auditor 3 (Manager) until his retirement in August 2023. Today, he runs a successful tax consulting practice and serves as a voluntary advisory board member with Synergy Home Care of Newport, Rhode Island, and as a volunteer director at Christ Apostolic Church in Brooklyn.
